The Metaverse Drives the Industrial Sector, Reveals Research

A recent study conducted by Nokia and the consulting firm Ernest & Young (EY) highlights the rapid advancement of the metaverse in the business landscape, surpassing industry expectations.
The results reveal that 58% of corporations in the industrial sector have already implemented or tested this innovative technology. The metaverse, which was initially associated with social networks and entertainment, is now becoming an essential tool for entrepreneurs.
The research also pointed out that an impressive 92% of companies plan to adopt the metaverse in their processes in the next two years. Brazil stands out, ranking among the top three countries leading in the implementation and testing of the metaverse, closely following the United States and the United Kingdom.
Benefits Exceed Expectations Wilson Cardoso, the Technology Director for Latin America at Nokia, emphasized in a press conference how quickly the metaverse has brought tangible benefits to the company, surpassing initial projections.
The numbers are impressive:
• Capital expense reduction by 39%, exceeding the initial expectation of 24%.
• Higher sustainability gains by 10% and a 9% improvement in security compared to estimates.
• The time to market for the solution was 5% faster than anticipated. According to the study, the majority of business leaders (44%) see the metaverse as the next step in the digitalization of the industry, while only a minority (13%) believe that the technology will impact only social networks and video games.
Technical Enablers The report also highlights the key technologies driving the implementation of the metaverse in the business and industrial world.
These include cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) with machine learning (ML), and private 5G networks. In addition, optical fiber networks and smart sensors are proving relevant in this scenario.
The research was conducted with 860 entrepreneurs between March and April of this year in six countries, namely: Germany, South Korea, the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Brazil.
The growing adoption of the metaverse in the industrial sector shows that this technology is shaping the future of companies more significantly than expected.
With companies reaping tangible benefits and surpassing initial challenges, the metaverse becomes an essential element in the journey of corporate digitalization.
Brazil stands out in this global movement, alongside global leaders, the United States and the United Kingdom. The research also underscores the importance of technologies such as AI, 5G networks, and smart sensors in supporting the successful implementation of the metaverse in business operations.
This study was conducted with the participation of 860 entrepreneurs in six key countries, providing a comprehensive view of the rapid rise of the metaverse in the business and industrial world.
